While the Milwaukee Bucks have been playing better lately, their defense still leaves much to be desired. According to a report from Bleacher Report, free agent wingman Stanley Johnson is an ideal candidate to help the Bucks shore up their defense.

Lackluster defense

With Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen getting shipped off in the transaction that brought Damian Lillard to Milwaukee, it was no secret that the Bucks' defense would slip. However, not many expected Milwaukee's defense to be this lackluster. To date, the Bucks rank 23rd in points per game allowed and 21st in defensive rating, which may seem inconsequential but have significantly impacted the team's campaign this season.

While the team has some stellar interior defenders in All-Defensive Team member Brook Lopez and former Defensive Player of the Year Giannis Antetokounmpo, their perimeter defense is a different story. With offensive-minded guards Damian Lillard and Malik Beasley manning the perimeter defense, it's no wonder opposing offenses feast when facing the Bucks.

Stanley Johnson can help

A 6-foot-6 wingman with a strong base, free agent Stanley Johnson may remedy some of the Bucks' defensive woes. Although Milwaukee's spacing may struggle when he's on the floor (he shoots 30% from three for his career) - what he brings to the table on the defensive end more than makes up for it.

Johnson is a good perimeter defender who can guard multiple positions thanks to his strength and quickness.

"He's a physical player who could help the Bucks while Jae Crowder is sidelined after surgery on an adductor and abdominal tear," Eric Pincus wrote.
