Report points to Khris Middleton finalizing a new deal with the Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks have plenty of question marks to deal with regarding their free agents. However, it appears that the veteran wingman isn’t going anywhere else as a report from Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer indicates Middleton and the Bucks are finalizing a new long-term deal.
No place like home
Middleton opted out of his player option worth $40 million to become an unrestricted free agent. Several teams have reportedly expressed interest in the services of the former Texas A&M star but Milwaukee—a place Middleton has called home over the last decade—looks like the clear-cut frontrunner.
“Sacramento going after Bucks All-Star guard Khris Middleton has been a popular theory floated by league figures, but all signs are pointing to Milwaukee, and Middleton finalizing a new agreement once free agency begins Friday after Middleton declined his 2023-24 player option last week,” Fischer wrote.
Crucial part of the core
Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been playing together for the last decade. And along with Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez, they have helped elevate the Bucks to elite status in the Association, winning a title in 2021 and ending up with the league’s best record in the regular season this past season.
"Khris is core to who we are and really all the success we've had," said Bucks general manager Jon Horst. "Our goal is always to sustain our success and continue to compete and (have) a chance to win and be in position to win year in and year out. We hope to have him back."
