Bobby Portis Jr., the bull-strong forward of the Milwaukee Bucks, fell short in the Sixth Man of the Year award.

Brogdon takes the honors

The award was won by Boston Celtics’ Malcolm Brogdon, who earned 408 points.

Brogdon, a former Buck, was trailed by Immanuel Quickley of the New York Knicks, who garnered 326 points.

Portis came in third with 97 points, getting six 1st place votes, ten 2nd place votes, and 37 3rd place votes.

Portis, an eight-year veteran, earned the nomination following a stellar performance in the regular season that helped the Bucks grab the overall top seed in the playoffs.

Complete season

Portis has become a dependable weapon coming off the bench in what was considered his most complete season.

Portis ended the regular season averaging 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks a game.

Averaging 26 minutes per game, it was in the recently ended regular season that Portis set career highs in two-point field goal percentage (55.5%), defensive rebounds per game (7.4), total rebounds per game (9.6), and double-doubles (38).

The 28-year-old power forward started in 22 of the 70 regular season games that he played in.

The highest-scoring game of Portis in the regular season came during the Bucks’ 118-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets on March 9th.

In that game, Portis helped overcome the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo by scoring a season-high 28 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
