The Milwaukee Bucks added more perimeter pop to their attack by acquiring former Los Angeles Lakers guard Malik Beasley. It didn’t take long for the eight-year-pro to land a new deal after the Lakers declined his $16.5 million team option. Beasley joins a Bucks squad hungry for redemption after getting bounced out of the NBA Playoffs in the first round despite finishing the regular season with the league’s best record.

Deadeye shooter

Beasley’s reputation in the NBA as a deadeye shooter is beyond reproach. After all, the 6-foot-4, 187-pound guard knocked down 235 three-pointers in a reserve role—which is the best mark in the league. However, Beasley struggled mightily in the playoffs and failed to provide the Lakers any significant help. He played in 11 games, averaging just eight minutes per match and a measly 3.0 points per game. Worse, he shot 29 percent from the field, including 26 percent from long-range.

Fit right in

Although it remains unclear what role Beasley would be given, there is little doubt about the type of opportunity he has on his hand. With the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo running the show in Milwaukee, a player like Beasley, who can shoot from deep and attack off the dribble, would be welcomed with open arms.

And with Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and even Brook Lopez commanding defensive attention at all times, there’s a real chance Beasley can find himself in open space, and the Basketball Gods will give him a shot at redemption.
