The Milwaukee Bucks notched their third win in a row after slipping past the gritty Detroit Pistons, 120-118. Here are a couple of takeaways from the hard-earned win that brought the Bucks’ record to 5-2.

“Dame Time” is alive in Milwaukee

It’s safe to say that Damian Lillard has not been himself in the early part of this season. He’s putting up a career-low 14.2 shots per game and scoring 22.7 points per game. Perhaps the seven-time All-Star is still trying to be nice with his new teammates and find his place within the offense, but it’s clear that Lillard is hesitating to take over.

That wasn’t the case on Wednesday night as Dame came to life, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter, including two short jumpers that put the Bucks in front, 116-115, with 1:12 left in the game. He finished with 34 points, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Brook comes up big

With the Bucks clinging to a slim 116-115 lead, Brook Lopez gave the Bucks some much-needed separation, calmly stepping into a three-pointer that pushed their lead to four, 119-115, with 42 seconds remaining in the game.

The Pistons, though, were not done as they pulled to within one after a triple by Cade Cunningham. Detroit even had a shot at retaking the lead after Lillard missed a three-pointer on the Bucks’ next possession. Cunningham then drove inside and tried to loft one over Lopez, but the big man denied the shot, forcing the former to carelessly pass the ball into the waiting arms of Milwaukee guard Malik Beasley.

After a slow start to the season, Lopez is looking a lot like himself these days, blocking four shots against the Pistons for a total of 12 in his last three games.
