Damian Lillard releases new hip-hop EP
Between ripping the opposing team’s heart out with gutwrenching clutch shots, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard is also building a career as a talented lyricist. Lillard—who’s known as Dame D.O.L.L.A. in the hip-hop world—recently released a brand-new EP entitled “Life Lately,” which features five new tracks.
Ultimate expression
Just a few months after the release of his fifth album, “Don D.O.L.L.A.,” the seven-time All-Star is getting a few thoughts off his mind and chest in this EP, which features collaborations with Grammy-nominated spoken-word poet Prentice Powell, Sy Ari Da Kid, and Yxung Rell.
When he's not shooting hoops, the NBA star is dropping bars under his hip-hop alias Dame D.O.L.L.A. And Lillard has amassed quite the discography: He's released five albums since 2016, scoring big-name collaborators including Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Durk.
And last week, just two months after releasing his latest album, "Don D.O.L.L.A.," Lillard put out a five-song EP, "Life Lately."
“My music is my ultimate expression,” Lillard shared.
“Some people journal, I write music. Especially at this stage in my career, I like to be able to vent, I like to be able to share in a creative way.”
Recent chapters of Lillard’s life
According to Lillard’s press team, his latest songs delve into the latest chapters of his life, including his trade to the Bucks from the Portland Trail Blazers and his divorce.
“There’s always going to be narratives about certain things, and a lot of time, people want to know how we feel and what we think,” Lillard added.
“It’s not mandatory that we address anything, but we do have feelings. I think to have better perspectives on who we are and how we handle things, and to have better respect for us as people; sometimes it helps for them to know where our mind and where our heart is.”
