Giannis Antetokounmpo has put in the necessary work to become one of the league’s elite players. But the two-time NBA MVP does not only strive to become better as an athlete, knowing that basketball is not a lifetime thing.

The Greek Freak is entering the 11th NBA season, and while he still has a few good years left in his career, he has already started preparing for life after basketball by building businesses together with his brothers.

Gunning for off-the-court success

Part of the post-basketball preparation is the launching of Ante, Inc., which will oversee the family’s businesses.

“I have had success on the court, and I continue to work harder every day to get better, but I understand it is important to build success off the court as well,” said Giannis in a statement.

“Ante, Inc. is just the beginning. My family is building a business that we can be proud of. I have had the privilege of learning from professionals who understand what it means to build success off the court, and it’s time me and my family begin to build that,” he added.

Investing in the future

Over the last few years, the Antetokounmpos have made investments in sports franchises, such as Nashville SC and the Milwaukee Brewers, in a mutual fund with an industry leader, Calamos, partnerships with Ready and Nike, as well as launching the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation.

“As the family begins to lay the foundation for this work, Ante, Inc. will oversee the family’s brand holdings, organizations for social impact, and their global portfolio of businesses,” reads a statement posted on the company’s website.

“As the family moves forward, all opportunities on behalf of the family will be brought through Ante, Inc,” it added.

“We are extremely grateful for all of the opportunities that we have,” said Thanasis in the same post. “All of my brothers continue to work hard both on and off the court, and I feel this is the right moment in our lives to launch Ante, Inc.”

Ante, Inc. will be led by Dylan Wondra, President & CEO; Kostas Tsigkourakos, Chief Financial Officer; and George Panou, Chief Marketing Officer. In 2023, Ante, Inc. plans to have a physical presence in both the United States and Greece.
