Milwaukee Bucks coach Adrian Griffin suffers family tragedy
Adrian Griffin, the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, has endured a heart-wrenching tragedy with the loss of his beloved grandson, Jayce D. Griffin, on Saturday. According to a report from the Associated Press, the two-year-old was found unresponsive by his father, Alan Griffin, and was later pronounced dead at the Carle Foundation Hospital.
Very special
In a statement that the older Griffin released through the Bucks, the coach relayed how special his grandson was to him and how this loss is an “agonizing” one for him and his entire family.
"My grandson Jayce was very special to me and my family, and his passing is an agonizing tragedy that will be felt forever," Griffin said in a statement. "I appreciate your respecting our family's grief and privacy at this time."
No foul play
An autopsy was immediately conducted, and so far, no evidence of foul play was found. Police are still conducting further tests to determine the cause of death.
"At this time, the death of Jayce Griffin appears to be from natural causes pending additional testing and final autopsy results," coroner Duane Northrup said.
Jayce is the son of Alan Griffin, who’s the son of Adrian Griffin. Alan played college basketball at Illinois and Syracuse and was recently part of the Bucks’ Summer League team. Alan’s younger brother, A.J., currently plays for the Atlanta Hawks.
