The duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson is considered to be one of the greatest backcourts in NBA history, as that earned them the nickname “The Splash Brothers” in the NBA.

But when asked who is the greatest shooter in the NBA, excluding himself, Curry had another player in mind.

Picking Ray over Klay

Instead of choosing the other half of the dreaded “The Splash Brothers,” Curry picked the Milwaukee Bucks legend Ray Allen as the greatest of all time. Steph gave this take when he recently sat down with Willie Geist during the Today Show.

The Golden State Warriors' main man was asked who he believes is the greatest shooter in NBA history. Curry replied, “Not me,” before he was interrupted by Geist.

“It is you, but I’m letting you take yourself out of it,” Geist quipped.

To answer the question, Curry said: “I’d say, Ray Allen. I think his form, his dedication to his craft, he hit big shots in his career,”

Allen spent most of his playing years with Milwaukee, donning the Bucks jersey for seven seasons before having stints in Seattle, Boston, and Miami.

Deadliest NBA shooter

Allen was the NBA three-point king from 2011 to 2021 after he finished his 18-year career with 2,973 three-pointers in 2014. Curry overtook Allen in 2021 and needed just 789 games to do it. The two-time MVP Steph now has a total of 3,390 made three-pointers.

As for Thompson, he still needs a ton of three-pointers to move up in the rankings. The 10-year NBA veteran is currently in 11th place with 2,213 triples.

There are three active NBA players who are ahead of Thompson in the ranking, namely: James Harden (3rd), Damian Lillard (6th), and NBA all-time scoring leader LeBron James (9th).
