The Chicago Bulls kicked off their four-game road trip with a gutsy 118-110 win over the resilient Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday at the FedEx Forum. The win helped the Bulls pull closer to the .500 mark, as they now hold a 25-27 record.

DeMar DeRozan led Chicago with 30 points and eight rebounds, while Andre Drummond had another fantastic game off the bench, producing 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting and 13 rebounds. Nikola Vucevic and Coby White had 20 points each, the former hauling down 10 rebounds and the latter dishing eight assists.

Turned it up in the fourth

Memphis held an 81-80 lead at the start of the fourth and remained in front, 95-92. However, the Bulls found their second wind and scored nine straight to take a 101-95 lead after a tip-in by Drummond with 3:30 left in the game.

The Grizzlies last threatened at 108-103 after a triple by GG Jackson, but four straight free-throws by Alex Caruso and White put the game away in the Bulls’ favor.

Put up a fight

The Grizzlies have been hit hard by injuries to their studs. With Ja Morant out for the season and Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart out for extended periods, the Grizzlies have lost seven straight and are languishing near the bottom of the Western Conference.

The silver lining to Memphis’ struggles this season is they have uncovered some diamonds in the rough. GG Jackson, who the Grizzlies signed to a four-year contract on Thursday, is one of those player, and he put up 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including 4-of-9 from long range.

“GG was phenomenal,” Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said.

“Obviously, embracing his role coming off the bench. Offensively, diversified scoring attacks. ... He's still learning. He knows where he can get better, and that's really impressive.”

Coby White says he's far from finished despite raising his stock this season
