Chicago Bulls crushes the San Antonio Spurs for their third straight win
The Chicago Bulls picked up their straight win after defeating the San Antonio Spurs, 114-95, on Thursday night at the United Center. The victory was Chicago’s third in a row, bringing their record up to 13-17.
A night that Wemby would not forget for all the wrong reasons
Plenty of fans came to the United Center hoping to see what the hype surrounding the first pick of this year’s NBA Draft is all about. And while the versatile 7-foot-4 big man showed glimpses of his unique skill set, the Bulls’ defense kept him in check, holding him to a career-low seven points on 3-of-8 shooting.
Wembanyama missed the Spurs’ last game due to a sore right ankle. Afterward, the Frenchman refused to use that as an excuse for their 21st loss in 22 games, saying, “My ankle is fine, I don't feel it at all. There are some games like that.”
The Bulls' balanced attack overwhelms the Spurs
San Antonio was within seven at the start of the fourth, 77-70, but Chicago opened that stretch with a 10-3 run that featured triples from Jevon Carter and Patrick Williams and jumpers from Coby White and DeMar DeRozan to build an 87-73 lead. The Spurs would come no closer than 10 the rest of the way.
White finished the game with 22 points, 12 coming in the fourth. DeRozan added 21, even as Williams chipped in 18. Nikola Vucevic contributed 16, while Andre Drummond and Ayo Dosunmu came off the bench and scored 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
One night after getting eight players to score in twin digits, the Bulls had six players reach that mark versus the Spurs.
