Chicago Bulls loses for the sixth straight time to the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Chicago Bulls couldn’t keep up with the Cleveland Cavaliers down the stretch, falling 109-91 to drop to 19-23 for the season. The Cavaliers have had the Bulls’ number for a while now, as this was the former’s sixth win in a row over their Central Division rivals.

Lost steam

The Bulls were right in the thick of the battle, as they stormed back from a 74-53 deficit to take an 81-80 lead after two free-throws by Coby White with 10:01 to go in the game. However, the Bulls seemingly ran out of gas, with the Cavs beating them to numerous 50-50 balls to spark a 10-0 run that put them ahead, 90-81.

The Cavaliers never looked back after that, as they finished the game on a massive 29-10 run.

All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell scored 34 points, shooting 11-of-21 from the field. He also had seven assists. Jarrett Allen added a double-double—his ninth in a row—of 10 points and 14 boards.

Dialed in from deep

The Bulls were sluggish in their defensive rotations, which led to the Cavaliers shooting a franchise-record 57 three-pointers. They made 20 of them, including numerous daggers in the fourth that put the game out of Chicago’s reach.

Coby White led the Bulls with 18 points, but he had a forgettable performance as he shot only 5-of-15 from the field and committed a head-scratching seven turnovers.

“What was disappointing was a lot of the (mistakes) when we went up one were self-induced,” Donovan said. “It was rushed shots, turnovers, offensive rebounds; all stuff we did to ourselves.”
