The Chicago Bulls pulled off its most impressive win of the season as they stunned the Philadelphia 76ers, 108-104, on Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The win snapped the Sixers’ six-game winning run and raised the Bulls’ record to 11-17.

Formidable opponent

The odds were stacked against the Bulls in this game as they faced off against a Sixers squad that had demolished their last five opponents by an average of over 31 points. It looked like the Bulls would fall victim to another Sixers rout as they trailed 16-4 early in the first before they rode the hot shooting of Coby White, who scored 16 in the first half to put the Bulls in front at halftime, 55-44.

The Sixers persevered and reclaimed the lead at 89-87, but the Bulls kept their wits about them and answered with a 13-2 run to put them ahead 100-92 after a three-pointer by Nikola Vucevic, with 3:04 left.

A three-pointer by Tyrese Maxey pulled Philadelphia to within one, but DeMar DeRozan split his charities for a 106-104 lead, with time down to 16 seconds. The Sixers then went to Joel Embiid, but the reigning MVP lost control of the ball on his way up for a shot, and DeRozan grabbed the rebound and added two more free throws to secure the Bulls’ win.

On a good path

After a horrendous start, the Bulls have now won six of their last nine games. Coby White continued his ascension in the NBA, registering 24 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Vucevic had 23 points, eight boards, four assists, and two blocks, while DeRozan had 15 points, four rebounds, five assists, four steals, and a block.

“All of us are supporting each other, and it's contagious,” Vucevic said.

“We won some games, so that helps, too. We're only 11-17, but hopefully, we're on a good path, and we can continue that way.”
