Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics - GAME DAY PREVIEW
The Chicago Bulls (26-29) kick off their post-All-Star break slate with a massive game against the league-leading Boston Celtics on Thursday at the United Center. The Celtics have been on a remarkable winning roll this season and are looking to win their seventh game in a row. On the other hand, the Bulls seek to move up the standings and secure an outright berth in the NBA Playoffs.
The lopsided loss last time out
Chicago last battled Boston on November 28, a game where they absolutely got crushed, 124-97. That marked the lowest point of the season for the Bulls as it placed them at 5-14. Since then, the Bulls have turned it around, compiling a 21-15 record. However, consistency issues continue to hound Chicago, something veteran wingman DeMar DeRozan hopes to help remedy.
“We have big games where we compete against some of the best teams and make comebacks. For us, I always said it: it’s just sustaining that consistency. All the great teams are able to do it close to 48 minutes in a game,” DeRozan said.
“The good teams know how to lock in and how to close games, how to start off games and second halves.”
Injury-plagued campaign
The Bulls will head to this match versus the Celtics sans several forwards. Patrick Williams is a long way off from a return from a foot injury, while Torrey Craig will be out for two to four weeks after spraining his knee in a workout during the All-Star break.
With only 27 games left in the regular season, Chicago hopes to leave it all out on the court as they continue to battle for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
“These 27 games mean everything. We gotta lay it out there on the line. It’s no more, ‘We get the next one.’ Every single one is going to be a helluva task for us,” DeRozan asserted.
