The Chicago Bulls defeated the San Antonio Spurs for the fourth win in a row
All of a sudden, the Chicago Bulls are unbeatable. The Bulls banked on a strong second-half attack to turn back the San Antonio Spurs, 121-112, for their fourth-straight victory on Friday night.
The four successive wins are the Bulls’ longest winning streak in the season so far. The string of victories came after they went on a five-game losing streak. The victory also snapped Chicago’s seven-game road skid.
Balanced attack
In a remarkable display of balanced attack, the Bulls had four players scoring at least 20 points each.
Coby White led the Spurs with 24 points, while Nikola Vucevic pitched in. 21 points and 16 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan dropped 20 points and 10 boards against his former team, while Patrick Williams added 20 markers.
Torrey Craig added 20 points for the Bulls, who came alive after a lackluster first-half performance.
San Antonio ended the first half with a 63-52 lead, but Chicago wiped out the deficit behind a 35-20 run that gave them an 87-83 lead going into the final quarter.
The Spurs seized the lead back early in the fourth, 90-89, but Craig hit a three-pointer, and Andre Drummond scored on a follow-up dunk as the Bulls never trailed again after coasting to a 94-90 lead.
A three-point play by DeRozan gave Chicago a double-digit cushion with 2:13 left, 121-112, as the Bulls went on to hand the Spurs franchise record-tying 16th straight loss.
Victor Wembanyama collected 21 points and 20 rebounds. The 19-year-old became the youngest player in league history to record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game.
Keldon Johnson finished with 20 points, while Tre Jones added a season-high 18 for San Antonio, which dropped to 3-10 in the season.
