Alex Caruso suffers yet another injury in game vs. the Miami Heat
Alex Caruso had just returned from a two-game absence due to a left ankle sprain, and now, it appears he’s facing an extended absence after his teammate Nikola Vucevic stepped on his left foot during a rebound scramble.
Great start
Caruso looked spry early on, hitting two three-pointers in a sizzling Bulls start that saw them surge in front, 16-5. However, his night ended prematurely with 7:05 to go in the first after Vooch accidentally stepped on his previously injured ankle. Caruso limped out of the game, went straight to the locker room, and did not return to the ballgame.
After the game, Bulls coach Billy Donovan confirmed that Caruso had re-injured the same ankle that had previously hurt.
"To what level or degree, I don't know," Donovan said. "It's the same spot."
It remains unclear how much time Caruso will now miss. But the Bulls’ record without him in the lineup is bleak; the team has yet to win a single game in four tries when Caruso isn’t playing.
Impact Caruso has on the team
Ayo Dosunmu, the man who was tasked with replacing Caruso, had himself a fine ballgame with 24 points. Afterward, his thoughts were not on the performance he just had but with the former Texas A&M star.
“It was a bummer losing A.C. because you just feel bad for him and the work he’s put in to get back,” Dosunmu said.
“I was actually very sad. He checked in [at the start], hit two threes, he was feeling good, and then to see him have to go out, it was a bummer. But I just try and stay ready. Stay ready and try and grow.”
