It feels like ages ago when the Chicago Bulls were one of the most sought-after teams in the NBA. Whether it was the Michael Jordan era where the team was dominant and seemingly unbeatable, or even the post-Jordan era before the rebuild of the roster with Derrick Rose leading the way, Bulls games were always exciting to watch.

Unfortunately, times have changed for Chicago, and it seems like they're stuck in mediocrity. The team has failed to make any significant moves in free agency, opting to keep the same core from last season's middling squad. This led Bleacher Report to name the Bulls one of the NBA's "least watchable" squads this season.

Not that bad

The Bulls have high-quality players on the roster, starting with their "Big 3" of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic. Chicago also has talented young players in Coby White, Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry, and Ayo Dosunmu. The problem lies in making it all work together, which the Bulls failed to do last season. And from the look of how the team's first game went, it isn't looking any better this season.

"The Bulls won't necessarily be bad this year, and they could realistically sneak their way into the East playoffs via the play-in tournament. That being said, is anyone actually excited to watch Chicago simply run it back this season?" Greg Swartz wrote.

What's going to be new?

The Bulls also acquired solid role players in Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig. However, the Bulls' offense is again expected to feature more of the same things—from DeRozan's middies to LaVine's long-range bombs to Vucevic's attempts at getting the ball at the low post. Pepper in some flashes of brilliance from Williams, White, and Craig, and you have a basic idea of what the Bulls' offense will be.

"Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig were solid additions, but they aren't going to wow anyone with their high-flying dunks or incredible athleticism. DeMar DeRozan is 34, on an expiring contract, and could become a trade candidate at some point. This was also just the 24th-best offense last season, one that will once again be without Lonzo Ball for the entire year. Overall, what are we tuning in to see from the Bulls that we haven't witnessed already?"
