The Chicago Bulls have more clarity regarding their point guard situation after signing Jevon Carter and agreeing with Coby White on a new deal. This was a pressing concern for the team, especially with Lonzo Ball indefinitely out of commission, and the Bulls came away with two solid guards who may be capable of quarterbacking the squad back to the NBA Playoffs.

Two-way player

The Bulls were able to pry Carter away from their Eastern Conference rivals, the Milwaukee Bucks. A six-year-pro, the West Virginia product was able to parlay his career-high year with the Bucks this past season into a three-year, $20 million deal. Carter averaged 8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists this season, doing an effective job of providing timely spot-up shooting and relentless full-court defense.

It remains to be seen if Carter would start or assume his usual role of coming off the bench, but the Bulls are banking on his two-way playmaking abilities to provide the team with much-needed stability and leadership.

Steady improvement

In addition to Carter, the Bulls re-signed White to a three-year, $40-million contract. White was picked seventh by the Bulls in the 2017 NBA Draft. And while his first few years in the Association featured mixed results due to inconsistent play and unclear roles, last season was perhaps White at his best in terms of playmaking and defense. The UNC product averaged 9.7 points and even found himself in closing lineups, functioning as the Bulls’ designated shooter whenever the team’s stars drew the brunt of the opposing team’s defense.
