Chicago Bulls reportedly offer Turkish star Onuralp Bitim two-way contract
The Chicago Bulls are keen on improving their roster this offseason to give them a better chance of erasing the bitter taste of their showing previous season. While the team has yet to make some major changes involving their “Big 3” of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, they have made some minor moves, drafting Julian Phillips during the NBA Draft last Thursday and then adding UConn big man Adama Sanogo.
They also recently added an international prospect in Turkish shooting guard Onuralp Bitim, who they signed to a two-way contract. It remains to be seen, though, if the 24-year-old’s success overseas will translate to the Association.
Diamond in the rough?
The Bulls will certainly hope they have found a gem in Bitim, who averaged 17.8 points on 45 percent shooting, to go with 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per match. Perhaps more importantly, the Bulls are hoping that the 6-foot-6 wingman can help with their three-point troubles as Bitim shot 36 percent from long range.
Summer league duties
The Bulls and their fans will not have to wait long to get a chance to see Bitim in action, as he will be part of Chicago’s Summer League squad that will be competing in Las Vegas on July 3. There, he’ll be teaming up with Phillips and Sanogo as the Bulls look to make a deep run in what could be a competitive Summer League.
