The Chicago Bulls added another participant to their upcoming training camp, signing 6-foot-9 guard Henri Drell to a training camp contract. Henri is a familiar face in Chicago, having played for the Bulls’ G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, from 2021 to 2023. He will join two other players, Quenton Jackson and Max Heidegger, who also received training camp deals.

Improved play

The Estonian’s first stint in the G League was lukewarm at best, as he averaged just 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game. He also struggled to find his shot, as he finished the season shooting just 37 percent from the field.

However, his second year in the G League showed improvements. He played 31 minutes per night and averaged 11.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He also looked more comfortable on the floor, making 48 percent of his shot attempts.

Another shot at the G League

Drell will be a longshot to make the Bulls’ 15-man roster, but he could become a valuable asset for the Windy City Bulls. His improvements over the past season suggest that he has the potential to be an effective role player in the G League. With some additional development and experience, Drell could eventually find himself back in NBA circles.
