Coby White relishes playing against Lebron James
Chicago Bulls guard Coby White did not have a memorable shooting night in their 124-106 win against the Los Angeles Lakers. He scored only 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting and collected seven rebounds and five assists—a far cry from the scintillating performances he’s had in recent games.
However, the former Tar Heel said the game still meant a lot to him, as he got to share the floor with an all-time great, LeBron James.
Cherishing every chance he gets
Since getting drafted seventh overall in 2019, White has faced off against LeBron and his Lakers seven times in his career, and he has relished every moment.
“For me, it’s always a pleasure to play against one of the greatest ever, if not the greatest,” Bulls White said.
Now playing in his 21st season in the league, LeBron has shown little signs of slowing down at age 38. However, White knows Father Time is undefeated and that next season is never promised, so he makes sure to cherish every chance he gets to face off against one of the NBA’s all-time greats.
“I try not to take it for granted. Looking back on it one day when I’m older, to say that I got to play against [James], so that’s how I view it,” White added.
A good win
After a terrible start that saw the Bulls win only five of their first 19 games, the wins have come more frequently this month, and White has been a huge reason for the team’s resurgence.
With averages of 24.8 points on 50.8 percent shooting, 6.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game this December, White has been a force on both ends of the floor, and he’s eager to help the Bulls nab more wins.
“Really good win for us against a really good team that has championship aspirations,” White said.
