Darvin Ham expresses gratitude to Pat Beverley for all he did during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers
Patrick Beverley did not get to spend a lot of time with the Los Angeles Lakers, but his impact on the team was profound, said first-year head coach Darvin Ham. An intense defensive pest who isn’t afraid to speak his mind, whether it’s in the locker room or on the court, Beverley’s contributions to the Lakers cannot be understated. Ham recently expressed his gratitude for Beverley and all he did to help the team during his short time there.
Brief Laker career
The Arkansas product played just 45 games for the Lakers before getting traded to the Orlando Magic in a transaction that saw LA acquire Mo Bamba. Beverley then got bought out, and he was subsequently picked up by the Chicago Bulls. Although Beverley’s time with the Lakers was far from perfect, Ham said he was grateful to have had a player of that caliber on his roster.
“Personally, I appreciate everything Pat did in trying to do everything myself and my coaching staff asked of him. He’s a hell of a pro, and wherever he goes, his impact is felt,” said Ham.
Difference-maker
Beverley has certainly galvanized the Bulls, helping them get in a great position to secure a spot in the Play-in tournament. Now holding a 36-40 record, the Bulls have won six of their last 10 games and remain two games in front of the Washington Wizards for the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference.
His tenacity on defense and leadership qualities have been crucial in keeping Chicago competitive in the Eastern Conference playoff race. And while his three-point shooting might not be at the same level as it was earlier in his career, Beverley is capable of making them during the game’s biggest moments.
