The Chicago Bulls are walking on shaky ground regarding their “Big 3.” Although Zach LaVine is signed to a long-term deal, big man Nikola Vucevic is set to enter unrestricted free agency, and DeMar DeRozan only has one more season left on his contract. DeRozan has been an integral part of the Bulls’ rotation this season, but if he does not sign an extension, it is likely that he will be traded sooner rather than later.

Likely to be moved

George Kaplan of ESPN 1000 certainly believes that the midrange maestro could get traded by the Bulls to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing further down the road.

“I do think they’re going to move somebody because you have to sign DeMar to an extension this summer. He’s walking at the end of the season. So, if he goes out and plays like DeMar, and he’s a 23-point-a-game scorer, and he hits some clutch shots, and he looks like he’s still healthy because he takes amazing care of himself, he’s walking. He’s not going to be back here,” Kaplan said.

Still one of the NBA’s best

Not that DeRozan isn’t worth the big money, but it’s evident from this season’s results that his partnership with the other members of the “Big 3” isn’t quite as effective without Lonzo Ball putting it all together. Deebo averaged 24.5 points and 5.1 assists per game this season, but the Bulls struggled to gain any kind of rhythm all season long, leading to calls by both fans and experts alike to tear this roster down.

“I don’t think they’re extending him for big money. I don’t. So, I think he’s more likely to get moved,” Kaplan added.
