Former Chicago Bulls guard Goran Dragic retires

After years of dedication on the court, former Chicago Bulls guard Goran Dragic has decided to retire.

Veteran guard Goran Dragic will finally hang up his sneakers after a successful 15-year NBA career that saw him play 51 games with the Chicago Bulls. The announcement was made through the Slovenian website SiOL.net, which revealed that the man nicknamed “The Dragon” will stage a farewell game in the city of Ljubljana this August.

In August 2022, Dragic signed to play for the Bulls, hoping to bring stability to a backcourt that was missing ace point guard Lonzo Ball, who had suffered a knee injury in January of that year. He eventually played in 51 games and averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 assists in 15 minutes of action. In February 2023, he was waived by the Bulls and finished the season with the Milwaukee Bucks, which got ousted in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Part of a famous Bulls highlight

While Dragic accomplished a lot in his career, including winning the Most Improved Player award and making the All-NBA Third Team while playing for the Phoenix Suns in the 2013-2014 season, Dragic’s most famous claim to fame might be his participation in one of the most dazzling dunks of Derrick Rose’s career.

The game occurred in January 2010 when the Suns hosted the Bulls. Dragic remembered the play like it happened yesterday.

"It was my second year in the league. First year, I did not play much. So my second year I started to play a little bit. So I had to go for that play," Dragic shared.

“Of course, if I knew now, I would never go."
