Javon Freeman-Liberty continues to impress as he seeks to earn a spot on his hometown Chicago Bulls. The G League standout put up 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists in the Bulls' 87-80 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Summer League. The 23-year-old guard was effective and efficient, making 9-of-15 from the field, including going 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Across two games so far in the Summer League, the Depaul-alumnus made others pay attention to him with solid averages of 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

Highly-motivated to make it to the NBA

After doing work in the G League last season with stellar averages of 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists across 17 games for the Windy City Bulls, Freeman-Liberty remains as motivated as ever to earn a roster spot in the Association, especially after he went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft.

"I really don't like to talk about (not being drafted), but it's another chip," Freeman-Liberty said. "All my life I've been fighting to get here and I feel I'm still not (there). So I've still got that chip on my shoulder, motivated each and every day to come in and compete. I feel like always being motivated."

Credit to the G League

Freeman-Liberty said his experience in the G League has been instrumental in developing his game and confidence.

"The G League has helped me a lot," Freeman-Liberty explained. "It's a competitive league; it's going to develop you a lot. Everybody is trying to get somewhere (in the G League). When everyone is trying to get somewhere, it's like each and every day you have guys giving it their all to get to the next level."

While the future remains uncertain for the Chicago native, he says he'll continue to work his hardest in the hopes of earning that long-awaited call-up.

"Just go out there and prove I belong somewhere. Not just anywhere. But I belong somewhere out there on that floor to help a team out one day," Freeman-Liberty said.
