Jevon Carter is now officially a member of the Chicago Bulls. The team announced that they had finalized a three-year contract with the six-year-pro, marking a new chapter for both parties—one which they hope would be a fruitful. Although terms of the deal weren’t made public, Bulls insider K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported that Carter’s deal is worth $20 million.

Perimeter pop

Bulls executive vice president Arturas Karnisovas is aware of his team’s shortcomings when it comes to outside shooting. The Bulls were at the very bottom of the league in three-pointers made and attempted and sought to remedy that with some savvy moves in free agency. Adding Carter—a 42 percent shooter from long distance last season—will surely bolster the team’s shooting profile.

“We’re trying to change our shooting profile,” Karnisovas said. “Being last in the league in rate from 3 and 3-point makes, we’re going to try to address that in the offseason.”

Two-way stud

Shooting is but one piece of the puzzle when it comes to the 27 year old guard. The other is his tenacious defense which terrorizes opposing guards and wings when necessary. Carter is a disruptive force on defense, capable of irritating opponents with his relentless motor.

The Bulls have long been needing a two-way guard who can consistently hit from the outside and play solid defense ever since Lonzo Ball injured his knee in January 2022. And while Carter is far from the player that Ball was, he brings an intensity and competitiveness that no one else on the roster provides and is a great fit for a team looking to make a playoff run.
