LaVar Ball gives optimistic update about Lonzo Ball's injury
The Ball family continues to make headlines, this time with Lonzo Ball's injured knee. His father, LaVar Ball, has given an update on the situation and says that everything is now "situated." This is good news to Chicago Bulls fans who hope their starting point guard will be able to contribute this season.
LaVar offers update
LaVar Ball has never been the one to turn down an opportunity to talk about his son. The outspoken Ball father has often made headlines for his outrageous statements.
Now, LaVar is back in the news again, this time giving an update on Lonzo's injured knee. The point guard has been sidelined since January and recently underwent a second surgery on his troublesome left knee. If LaVar is to be believed, Lonzo may finally be on the right path to recovery.
"Lonzo's doing his thing, man. He finally got in there and they did his stuff right. Some of the debris was caught up with a nerve or something like that in his leg, wouldn't allow him to bend it or whatever, he had much pain. But he got all that situated now," said LaVar on the Ball Facts YouTube channel.
It has been a long road to recovery for Lonzo, who, after getting surgery eight months ago, reported that he still could neither run nor jump, much less play basketball. The second surgery was done to clarify the cause of his initial injury and ensure that it was fully repaired.
"From my understanding, they're going in there to see what it is because it's not necessarily showing up on the MRI. But it's clear that there's something there that's not right. So they're going to go in, look at it, and whatever needs to be done is going to be done," Lonzo said.
Not out of the woods
Despite the positive news, Lonzo remains out indefinitely and is set to be re-evaluated in a few weeks. Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said he wants to ensure his prized guard is "100 percent healthy" before returning to the court.
"Until he gets back and gets into the situations that were causing him pain, to see how he responds to being back in those situations, we'll find out more," Donovan said.
For now, sophomore guard Ayo Dosunmu will hold the fort for Lonzo, starting in his place when the Bulls open the season against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.
