After undergoing surgery on his left knee for the second time this year, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is back in the Windy City and will start rehabilitation, taking the first step of what many hopes will be a full and speedy recovery.

Long road back

Ball underwent arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left knee on September 28 in Los Angeles. The team announced that he will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks, which means it remains to be seen whether the versatile guard will ever put on a Bulls jersey this season. The good news, though, is Ball is back in Chicago and will enjoy the support of his friends and teammates as he starts down the long road to recovery.

Rehabilitation process

The next few weeks will be crucial for Ball as he looks to get healthy and back on the court. While there is no timetable for his return, the team is hopeful that he will be able to play at some point this season. The Bulls remarked that they will monitor Ball's response to the early stages of rehab and will go from there.

It's been a tough year for the former second-overall pick, who has not played since January after tearing his meniscus. He missed the Bulls' last 42 games, and the team suffered for it, going from first place in the Eastern Conference down to sixth. The team had a mediocre 19-23 record without Ball in the lineup. The two-way terror valiantly tried to return to the roster, but his knee wouldn't cooperate, eventually leading to the decision for surgery.

Now that he's back in Chicago, Ball can begin his journey back to the court. He's still got a long way to go, but with the support of his teammates and the city of Chicago behind him, there's no doubt he'll be able to get through this tough time.
