After trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and getting Anthony Davis in return, the Dallas Mavericks were still expected to be a title contender. Their new trio of Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and Anthony Davis has championship pedigree and the talent to compete with anyone, but things have not gone their way.

Davis suffered an injury in Mavericks debut and has missed all 16 games since with a left adductor strain. To make matters worse, Irving suffered a season-ending ACL tear, truly putting a dagger in Dallas' 2024-25 campaign.

After Irving's injury, many expected the Mavericks to shut down Davis for the season since their title hopes were down the drain. But, it appears Davis could be making a return.

Marc Stein reports that Davis could return during Dallas' upcoming four-game road trip, which includes games against the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, and Chicago Bulls.

In his lone appearance as a Maverick, Davis dropped 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks on 10-18 shooting from the field through 30 minutes of action. Davis' debut was going as every Mavericks fan would have dreamed of until he went down.

It would be a storybook return if Davis' first game back is against the Bulls on March 29. Davis is from Chicago, so returning from a long absence in his hometown would be incredible.
