"If you think I went hard for other teams, just imagine how I'm gonna go hard for this one" - Patrick Beverley ready to lay it all on the line for hometown team
Patrick Beverley has made a career out of being a high-intensity player, someone who would go to war for his teammates and wear every ounce of his heart on his sleeve. Whether it was the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, or the LA Lakers, you can count on Beverley to go all out all the time.
Now that he's made his way to the Chicago Bulls, Beverley expressed his eagerness to represent his hometown the best way he knows how.
"If you think I went hard for other teams, just imagine how I'm gonna go hard for this one," Beverley said.
Playoff push
Even though the Bulls hold a dismal 26-33 record, they are still within striking distance of a Play-in spot or even an outright berth in the NBA Playoffs. That's why Beverley signed with the team; to help them reach the postseason.
"They didn't bring me here to tank," Pat Bev said "I figured I can make a playoff push with the Bulls right now and kind of pop them up a little bit."
Beverley explained that another reason why he chose the Bulls—rather than the reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors—is that he believes the Eastern Conference is a lot more vulnerable due to the recent exodus of elite players such as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to different Western Conference teams.
"The East kind of weak. You feel me? You know, not to disrespect anybody in the East, but a lot of people went to the West," he added.
Hold everyone accountable
If there's one thing Beverley is known for in his NBA career, it's his fearlessness. And the rugged guard says he won't take it easy—not on his opponents or his teammates. He expects to light a fire under everyone, especially on the defensive end of the floor.
"You know me, I'm going to be on Zach LaVine's a**," Beverley said. "I'mma give him all the energy he needs. Destroy people. Me and DeMar DeRozan, we good. I got a popping five in Nikola Vučević. I'm excited, man. I'm excited."
