The Chicago Bulls have another tough decision to make as forward Patrick Williams is reportedly eyeing a hefty contract extension.

ESPN’s senior writer Zach Lowe reported that Williams “wants big, big number contract for next season.”

“I’m hearing Patrick Williams wants big, big numbers for his next contract… like, starts with a 2 and isn’t $20M,” Lowe said in a recent episode of his popular podcast, The Lowe Post.

Enormous deals sealed

The Bulls went on a spending spree in the off-season when they offered massive contract extensions to Nikola Vucevic, Coby White, and Ayo Dosunmu.

Vucevic’s three-year contract extension is worth $60 million, White agreed to a three-year $40 million contract extension, while Dosunmu signed a three-year $21 million contract extension. Andre Drummond also opted into his $3.36 million player option.

A look at Patrick’s numbers

Now with those enormous deals, will the Bulls give in to Williams’ reported contract demand? And Chicago fans may also ask, is Williams worthy of a hefty deal?

Williams was Chicago’s fourth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. In his rookie season, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 71 games.

In his sophomore season, Williams was limited to just 17 games after suffering a dislocated wrist in the Bulls’ 103-104 loss to the New York Knicks on October 28th, 2021.

Williams had an injury-free year last season and played all 82 games, posting averages of 10.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.9 blocks in 28.3 minutes per contest.

Looking at his numbers, Williams might find it extra difficult to see himself get paid that much.
