The Chicago Bulls' decision-makers, led by executive vice president Arturas Karnisovas are bent on bringing back the team's core that missed the postseason. With the team already negotiating a brand-new contract for big man Nikola Vucevic, it looks like the Bulls are committed to "continuity" this offseason. However, a recent report from Elias Schuster of Bleacher Nation has highlighted why this commitment to continuity is unlikely to get Chicago the results it wants.

The "Big 3" played a lot of minutes together

The Bulls' "Big 3" of Vucevic and wingmen DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine played a ton of minutes together. As a matter of fact, the trio shared 1,642 minutes of court time—the most in the league this season. And what did that get them? Not even a ticket to the postseason, as the Miami Heat eliminated them in the second round of the Play-in tournament.

Continuity doesn't seem to be the answer

Continuity may work best for a team that is progressing. However, that's not the direction the Bulls are going in right now. With once-promising guard Lonzo Ball not returning any time soon, the Bulls need to focus on adding more talent. Perhaps an infusion of a new player or two could help turn things around and get them back into the playoffs.

"The Bulls' three best players had all the opportunity in the world to improve on last year's sixth-place finish. Their inability to do that – in a pretty drastic fashion – should be all the front office needs to realize that "continuity" isn't going to net better results," Schuster wrote.
