The Chicago Bulls' problems are piling up with each passing day. It’s clear the team needs to make changes, and that includes shopping around star guard Zach LaVine. However, according to NBC Sports Chicago’s Bulls insider K.C. Johnson, the trade market for LaVine is “very limited.”

This isn’t a surprise as teams are wary of taking on LaVine's large contract, which has three years remaining after this season worth over $130 million.

A dark cloud hanging over the franchise

Things haven’t gone the Bulls’ way this season. The latest loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder puts them at 5-11 with three more games left on this road trip—the Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, and the Boston Celtics.

The Bulls’ front office tried to double down on their roster despite this very same squad’s 40-42 record last season. Obviously, that plan has spectacularly backfired. However, Johnson believes that LaVine will eventually find a new squad, sooner rather than later.

“But I do think this will lead to a Zach LaVine trade I just think it's an untenable situation that needs to be resolved,” Johnson added.

Plenty of suitors, but not many takers

LaVine is posting robust numbers this season, averaging 21.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. However, his superb performances have often not led to wins. On November 14, The Athletic reported that the team’s front office is now becoming more open to trading the former UCLA star away.

Additionally, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported that the former Slam Dunk champ does not see this Bulls squad as a legitimate contender in the East and hopes to play for a winning franchise. Though there has been rumored interest from the likes of Philadelphia, Toronto, and the Los Angeles Lakers, nothing has materialized as of yet.
