Torrey Craig had no setbacks in his first non-contact practice
Chicago Bulls forward Torrey Craig is continuing to make significant progress in his foot recovery. In the pregame of their Sunday matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers, coach Billy Donovan announced that Torrey officially made it to his first non-contact practice last Saturday in which the veteran didn't flash any signs of setbacks.
‘‘He’s running, he’s cutting,’’ Donovan said. ‘‘He’s definitely progressing and getting better.’’
Torrey's injury background
TC hasn't played a game since Dec. 18, when he was sidelined due to an acute sprain of his right plantar fascia. The said injury requires him to have a lengthy recovery timeline. After a four-week immobilization plan, he will then begin rehabbing, which will take him about four to six weeks of period.
The previous update around him was that the Bulls cleared him for light activities in his movements and shooting. And this latest news around the wingman couldn't be more promising as he progressed towards running and cutting.
One step at a time
Before being sidelined, TC truly filled his spot as one of the most important rotational units within the Bulls. As the team's defensive cog, he averaged 6.1 points and 4.8 boards in 27 games (7 starts).
While the Bulls still managed to hang around even in his absence for the last 20 games, Torrey's versatility and defense will remain an important aspect of their identity this season.
As they are gunning for a higher finish this season, Chicago stands optimistic that Craig is taking his healing process one step at a time so that he'll be fully ready once he returns.
