What we learned from the Chicago Bulls' impressive win over the Miami Heat
The Chicago Bulls snapped their two-game slump with an impressive 124-116 win over the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Four different Bulls scored at least 23 points, marking the first time this has happened since 1969. The Bulls also raced off to a massive 25-point lead in the first before the Heat came roaring back. Here are a couple of takeaways from the Bulls’ victory
Scintillating start
The Bulls have, unfortunately, made a habit of playing from behind this season, often trailing by double-digits as early as the first quarter. On Thursday, they flipped the script and led by as much as 25 points, 33-8, thanks to a scintillating start that saw them make eight of their first 12 attempts, which included five three-point bombs. It was a scenario similar to what the Heat did to the Bulls during their November 18 match-up when they raced off to a 22-1 start.
Not everything, though, went well for the Bulls in the first as defensive whiz Alex Caruso re-aggravated his left ankle injury at the 7:08 mark. He did not return to the game.
Ayo finds his shooting touch
Zach LaVine’s absence has left an opening in the rotation. Tasked with filling in for some of those minutes is young guard Ayo Dosunmu. Unfortunately for the Illinois product, he has struggled to make baskets, going 5-for-18 in his last three games. However, against the Heat on Thursday, Dosunmu had it going, scoring 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting.
"The shooting efficiency stands out, but I thought he was really good defensively and made good decisions when he got in the paint kicking it out," Donovan said.
"He was coming up the floor, and there was constant pressure on the basket and on the rim, and that opened things up for him, and he was able to make plays from there."
