Zach LaVine says Joel Embiid should be this season's MVP

Zach LaVine says Joel Embiid is just too good.

This season's race for the much-coveted Most Valuable Player award has been extremely close, with neither of the primary candidates establishing themselves enough to truly rise above and beyond the pack. However, if you were to ask the Chicago Bulls wingman Zach LaVine who this season's MVP should be, he has the answer.

Not even a debate for Zach

LaVine believes this season's MVP should be the Philadelphia 76ers superstar, Joel Embiid. After falling short of the award last season, LaVine says Embiid should take home the award this year, thanks to his dominant showing on both ends of the floor. The 7-footer is averaging 33.6 points per game to lead the league in scoring for a second straight season. Add to that 10.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.1 steals and you can see why LaVine feels Embiid is the MVP.

"I think he should've won one already," LaVine said. "I think Jokic has been incredible too. He's won back-to-back MVPs, so you don't take anything away from him. Obviously, Giannis is incredible. But I think Embiid has it wrapped up this year in my opinion. He's that good."

All great candidates

Sixers coach Doc Rivers firmly believes that Embiid should come away with the MVP trophy this season. At the same time, the longtime coach added that there's no reason to put down the other candidates either, as they are all having incredible seasons as well.

"Giannis, Jayson Tatum, Joker (Jokic) are all great. We don't need to push one down to elevate the other guy. They are all completely different players," Rivers said.

"Joel in my opinion is the best of that. I don't think anyone needs me to campaign for him. I don't know what's going on lately. But it seems like every time you validate one, you have to push down the other. No, you don't. They're all great. There's nothing wrong with saying that," Rivers concluded.
