Nike to open first Michael Jordan-branded store in the United States
The United States will soon have its own “World of Flight” store, and it will be in the “City of Brotherly Love,” Philadelphia. According to a report, the Michael Jordan-branded store will be housed in a two-story building at 1617 Walnut St. that was erected in 1921, giving this store a historic significance in addition to its modern appeal.
This will be the fourth “World of Flight” store in the world, joining the ranks of Italy, Japan, and Dubai.
One-of-a-kind store
According to the application sent by Nike to the Philadelphia Historical Commission, the design concept for the latest “World of Flight” is “inspired by the intersection of Philadelphia Historical Architecture and Jordan Brand.”
In addition, Nike mentioned that the “Philadelphia’s Jordan The World of Flight will deliver a timeless, thoughtful designed store that can contribute to the neighborhood and character of the streetscape. The clean design language paired with the materiality and details used throughout achieves a look/feel that will convey a sense of history and permanence.”

With 7,000 square feet to work with, the Jordan Brand will have plenty of space to showcase its iconic sneakers and apparel. Despite the retirement of Michael Jordan in 2003, the Jordan Brand remains a global powerhouse in the world of sports and fashion. Their signature Air Jordan sneakers are still highly coveted by sneakerheads and athletes alike, with limited edition releases often selling out within minutes.
