NBA fans, Bulls fans in particular, will remember just how special Derrick Rose was in the 2010-11 NBA season. At just 22 years old, D-Rose became the youngest MVP in NBA history, averaging 25 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds, all while leading the Bulls to a 62-20 record and the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

D-Rose dominated the voting ballot

Despite the incredible numbers, not everyone felt that he deserved the MVP that year. Dwight Howard finished second, and Lebron James finished third. Lebron James' high school teammate felt young Bull didn't deserve it that season, responding to a Tweet that D-Rose "never should've won."

Though Travis never explicitly mentioned that Lebron should have won, it is safe to assume he probably was gunning for his former teammate. That being said, the voting committee obviously disagreed, with D-Rose finishing with 113 first-place votes and Lebron only finishing with four such ballots.

The Bulls unfortunately couldn't capitalize on D-Rose's historic season, losing in the end to Lebron's Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. Nevertheless, his numbers impressed around the league, and he quickly became a fan favorite.

Bad Luck

Following their successful 2010-11 season, the Bulls sought to build around Rose and his blossoming all-round abilities. However, in the first round of the 2012 playoffs, D-Rose tore his ACL and was never the same again.

Even though injuries plagued D-Rose's career, especially with the Bulls, the claim that he didn't deserve the 2011 MVP is just an example of bias towards a friend. He deserved to win the MVP, and the season will be remembered by Bulls fans forever. After all, Derrick Rose will always be a Bull in his heart, and fans seem to feel the same way.
