Sacramento Kings rumored to be in the mix for Zach LaVine
As the rumor mill continues churning, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly in the mix for Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine. According to renowned NBA insider Shams Charania, the Kings are aiming to land another star player to add to their core of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
A third piece
The Kings’ front office knows they already have a good thing going. However, being merely good won’t win a team the NBA championship. For that reason, the team is looking to add a third star to their core. LaVine could be that player, as he is an All-Star guard who can shoot the three and put points on the board in bunches.
“They are going to be involved in every star player. Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, maybe Zach LaVine,” Sharania shared.
LaVine has made headlines of late after a report from The Athletic indicated the Bulls’ increased openness to trading him. This has led to speculation of teams like the Kings looking to land him. Whether or not a deal happens remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Sacramento is keenly interested in the possibility of adding another star player to their already competitive core.
“They've done a good job at keeping their assets, they have tradeable contracts. So they're gonna be a player for stars coming up, for sure. I think eventually, they could add a third piece," Charania added.
Will the Bulls clean house?
It’s still early in the season, but the Bulls have already gone off the rails. From the players-only meeting, the team had one game into the season to its recent spate of lethargic play in the first halves of games; it’s safe to say that the Bulls are not playing up to their potential.
Rumors have already begun swirling about a possible shake-up of the team’s roster and management. However, Bulls coach Billy Donovan said the talks he’s had with management have involved internal development rather than personnel changes.
“I think everything is really totally geared toward how we can help this group play better,” Donovan said.
