Former league MVP James Harden has once again gotten caught up in controversy this offseason after asking to be traded away from his team, the Philadelphia 76ers. While there’s been a lot of chatter regarding where the All-Star guard would end up, there’s been no significant traction for a potential Harden deal. Despite the controversy surrounding Harden this offseason, his selections for the all-time starting five are quite the opposite. Of course, his picks are headed by the Chicago Bulls icon—Michael Jordan.

MJ at the three

While many have placed His Airness at his natural position at the two, Harden has opted to move MJ up a spot and place him at the small forward. This selection is no surprise, given that Jordan was one of the most versatile players in history. Jordan’s ability to score from anywhere on the court is unmatched and would surely make for an interesting dynamic with LeBron James as his point guard.

Joining LeBron in Harden’s all-time backcourt is the late great “Black Mamba,” Kobe Bryant.

Powerful frontcourt

Harden’s frontcourt is composed of two legends—Shaquille O’Neal and Tim Duncan. The two bigs were at the top of their respective positions for as long as most basketball fans can remember and bring size, strength, and leadership to this all-time team. Both players also have championship experience that could help lead Harden’s squad to victory. This quintet is truly an impressive lineup, capable of rivaling any other legendary starting five in the game.
