Anthony Davis' First NBA Coach Looks Into Evan Mobley Correlation

Monty Williams spent time with Anthony Davis on the New Orleans Pelicans. He talked about Cleveland Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley in comparison.

Prior to the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Detroit Pistons last Friday, Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams was asked about Evan Mobley's game and what he's seen from afar.

“Mobley has been really good in footwork and playing around the basket, playing over his right shoulder, left shoulder," Williams said before his team's loss in Cleveland.

Williams couldn't go further into detail around what Mobley does in practice and during travel because he's not around him the way J.B. Bickerstaff and the Cavs coaching staff are. However, he was willing to share his thoughts on the Anthony Davis comparison that many on the outside seem to make.

“I have noticed he has a calm demeanor on the floor, which is something that not many young guys have especially when you play a lot of minutes and you tend to make some mistakes," Williams said. "I never see him lose his poise out there, at least from my perspective.

“They have similar skill sets, length and that kind of thing. So I’m sure everybody compares those two. But I think Anthony played with a different group. A lot of the time he was the 5 and Ryan Anderson was the 4, so he was out there with a lot more spacing and playing the role that Allen plays here. But I think they manipulate the rotations where he can do that some."
