The Cleveland Cavaliers aren't done making moves just yet.

On Wednesday evening the team reportedly signed Sam Merrill to a 10-day contract. Cleveland signed him off of their own G-League affiliate the Cleveland Charge.

Merill has been having a solid season with the Charge. He's currently shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 43.7 percent from three. This shooting has led him to average 16.4 points per game.

This shooting could translate nicely to the NBA level.

The guard still has NBA experience even though he's spent the entire year in the G-League. Merill was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans as the 30th pick in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

He never played a game with the Pelicans but he has made appearances for both the Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies over the last two seasons.

Just because a player isn't a high draft pick or is getting most of their minutes in the G-League doesn't mean they can't make a significant contribution to a team. Remember that Dean Wade started off his NBA career on a two-way contract and now he's a key piece in the Cavs' rotation and signed a three-year $18.5 million contract extension.

The more interesting part is where J.B. Bickerstaff will look to play Merill. They're still trying to find a fit for Danny Green who's an NBA champion.
