Cavs Have No Intention Of Replacing J.B. Bickerstaff As Head Coach
Whenever things start to go array for any team in sports, the attention always turns to the head coach. This same scenario played out when the Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated in the NBA Playoffs.
Fans took to social media to express their frustration with J.B. Bickerstaff and his coaching against the New York Knicks. This mostly had to do with his lack of defensive adjustment against Jalen Brunson as the series went on.
However, Koby Altman and the Cleveland organization have no plans on moving on from Bickerstaff and are committed to him moving forward. Altman shut down any sort of coaching change soon after the season came to an end saying,
“Yes. Absolutely. There’s no question about that. I mean, look what he’s accomplished. It’s actually funny, I’ve not heard that, maybe because I haven’t been reading or not on Twitter, but I’ve not heard that noise. So that’s not even a question. […] End that speculation.”
Ending the speculation on Bickersatff's future now allows them to focus on upgrading the roster heading into the off-season. It also doesn't seem right to move on him just yet.
Bickerstaff has been a part of Cleveland's rebuild from the beginning. He's helped this team go from bottom in the league, play-in team, to a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference.
He's deserving of a chance to take them all the way and Altman and the team are giving that to him.
