The Cleveland Cavaliers open up the preseason on Tuesday and they'll do so a little bit shorthanded as center Jarrett Allen deals with a bone bruise in his left ankle. Will the injury extend into the regular season and if it does how will it impact the wine and gold out of the gate? Do the Cavs have enough depth in certain areas to challenge the top teams in the east?

That's first up for Spencer German and Tommy Wild on the latest Cavs Insider Podcast.

Meanwhile, after a week that saw the Milwaukee Bucks land star point guard Damian Lillard and the Boston Celtics add NBA Champion point guard Jrue Holiday, the guys ponder where exactly the Cavaliers fit in the gauntlet Eastern Conference.

Also, while Cavaliers head man JB Bickerstaff stayed mum on the topic of what role Max Strus will play for Cleveland, it's expected that he'll be the team's starting small forward. Strus will play a key role in the Cavs success during the 2023-24 season, is he up to the challenge?

And, while wine and gold fans seem to be prepping for the worst case scenario with Donovan Mitchell, the Cavaliers star seems to be doing his part to build a playoff contender here in Cleveland. Whether it's recruiting free agents to join the club or taking his teammates to a Louisville game, Mitchell is walking the walk when it comes to his situation.

All these topics are addressed in the latest episode of the Cavs Insider Podcast.
