Cavaliers' Brutal Schedule Coming Out Of All-Star Break
Hopefully, the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to have a nice, relaxing All-Star Break because their schedule immediately coming out of the gates is going to be full of intense, high-leverage games on limited rest.
Here's what the next two weeks look like for the wine and gold:
- Feb 22 vs. Orlando Magic
- Feb 23 @ Philadelphia 76ers
- Feb 25 @ Washington Wizards
- Feb 27 vs. Dallas Mavericks
- Feb 28 @ Chicago Bulls
- Mar 1 @ Detroit Pistons
- Mar 3 vs. New York Knicks
- Mar 5 vs. Boston Celtics
- Mar 6 @ Atlanta Hawks
That's nine games in just 14 days including three back-to-backs with six of those games coming against teams currently in the playoff picture. A lot of Cleveland's critics have mentioned their lackluster schedule being the reason for the recent success.
We're about to find out whether or not that truly was the case.
J.B. Bickerstaff didn't deny that this was going to be a challenging stretch for the Cavaliers. On the other hand, he's extremely confident in this group because of how many players can make a significant impact.
"We have a deep team," said J.B. "We can get through back-to-backs because we shouldn't have to play guys for a ton of minutes, kill them, and then suffer the next night or suffer the third game in four nights because of it. We have enough guys here where we can spread it out and still be competitive and still win games."
The Cavaliers have time and time again stepped up this season when they're asked to. This is going to be a test for this team, but they've shown they're capable of overcoming adversity.
