The Cleveland Cavaliers identified massive weakness on their roster following their early playoff exit last season. They needed more frontcourt depth and three-point shooting which led them to signing Georges Niang.

Niang has played a crucial role off the Cleveland bench and his solid season continued on Tuesday evening as he reached a career milestone. The Cavaliers forward hit catch and shoot three mid-way through the second quarter against the Dallas Mavericks and with that shot, surpassed his 3,000th career point.

Only 506 of Niang's career points have come with the Cavaliers.

He started his career with the Indiana Pacers where he scored just 21 points in 23 games. The majority of Niang's points (1,136) came as a member of the Utah Jazz where he played the next four seasons of his career. He also played two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers scoring 1,337 points during that tenure.

Niang's current season with Cleveland is arguably the best of his career. He's currently averaging 8.9 points a game while shooting 43% from the floor and 36% from behind the arc. The forward is also averaging a career-high 3.3 rebounds.

Niang is also part of the Cavaliers bench has been a strength for them and is one of the main reasons they're currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Cleveland and Niang agreed to a three-year deal before the season began. With this in mind, he will likely reach many more milestones wearing a Cavs jersey.
