Cavaliers’ Jarrett Allen Hits 5,000 Career Points Vs. Nuggets
History was made during Sunday night's matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Denver Nuggets.
Early in the third quarter, Cavaliers starting center Jarrett Allen scored his 5,000th career regular-season point. The 25-year-old entered the contest needing just five points to reach this career milestone.
Entering Sunday's game, Allen was averaging 12.0 points per game in 416 regular season games. However, he was well below this pace at halftime of tonight’s contest, as he was held to just two points in the first 24 minutes.
Allen made one of his three field goal attempts and missed both of his free throw attempts in the first half.
But in the third quarter, the Cleveland big man found his rhythm offensively.
After beginning the period with a floater, Allen was just one point away from 5,000 for his career.
Then, just under two minutes later, Cavaliers swingman Max Strus lobbed a pass to Allen, which he dunked to finish the alley-oop.
These were not Allen’s final two points of the quarter, though.
After averaging 11.6 points per game in his first seven contests this season, the 2022 All-Star eventually ended up with a game-high 13 points in the period alone. Allen converted five of his seven field goal attempts and three of his four free throw attempts in the third quarter.

With his stellar offensive performance in the third quarter, he had 15 points through the game’s first 36 minutes.
This mark eclipsed his previous season-high for total points in a game, which was 14 against the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 8th.
