Cavs News: J.B. Bickerstaff On Preparing For LeBron James
The Los Angeles Lakers will visit Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Saturday evening to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. With that, LeBron James will return to where his NBA career all began.
James is an all-time great and it's hard to argue that. J.B. Bickerstaff tried to explain how you plan for someone such as LeBron but admitted it's easier said than done.
"You got out and you try to make his job as difficult as you possibly can. You know what his strengths are and what his objective is on a day-to-day basis and a game-by-game basis and our responsibility is to make that as tough as possible. Again, easier said than done, but you want to try and frustrate him by not giving him his first option. You want to make him him send his team to the second, third, fourth options and see how good they are at that. But again, on an individual grand scheme, it's hard to gameplan for the greatness, you just focus on the basketball."
LeBron is in year 21 but is still playing at an incredibly high level. He's averaging 25.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.7 assists all while playing 33.8 minutes a night for the Lakers.
Cleveland fans have received a first-hand experience of his greatness on two separate occasions which is peaking in 2016 with the Cavs winning the Finals. We know what it's like to have LeBron on our side.
Bickerstaff may be let off the hook for prepping for LeBron because (as of Friday evening) listed as questionable against the Cavs with a left calf contusion.
