Cavs Talk About Growing Game Of Basketball Ahead Of Paris Game
The popularity surrounding the game of basketball continues to grow and all you have to do is look at current NBA rosters to see that. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, Nikola Jokić, and Rudy Gobert just scratch the surface of the international players in the league.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been given the unique opportunity to participate in the NBA Global Games series as they prepare to play against the Brooklyn Nets in Paris, France on Thursday evening (Thursday afternoon Cleveland time).
One message that has been consistent during the lead-up to the Paris game is that the Cavs are using this opportunity to be ambassadors of the support. It's a chance for them to represent the team, the NBA, and grow the game of basketball.
Caris LeVert touched on this on Tuesday saying, "Obviously, spreading the game of basketball is a huge opportunity for us as well. Playing a game out here in Paris is a blessing for us. So, super excited about it."
Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff also discussed the impact that playing in Paris can have on the next generation of basketball players.
"We know how the game has become global. But again, it's an opportunity for our guys to showcase themselves, showcase the NBA, the love of the game, and hope that it spreads even more. Different countries, you know, kids they a see a guy like Donovan [Mitchell] or Jarrett [Allen] or somebody like that, hopefully, that inspires them to pick up a ball, go work on their game, and become great as well."
It's certainly an honor for the Cavs to be selected. Cleveland and the Brooklyn Nets are also two perfect teams to showcase the game. They both have young rosters full of players who are energetic and entertaining.
This is setting up to be a great event for the world to watch.
