Darius Garland is Cleveland Cavaliers' franchise point guard. That was the plan when Koby Altman drafted him with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 draft.

Or is that the plan?

Conflicting reports on Garland's future with the Cavaliers emerged on Wednesday morning as we inch closer to free agency.

The first report was from Sam Amico and Hoops Wire. His sources told him that the Cavs were "exploring" the idea of moving on from Garland during the offseason.

The following report came from Chris Fedor and Cleveland.com, contradicting what Amico said. Fedor reported about an hour after Hoops Wire that Cleveland has not talked about trading Garland and they don't plan to.

So yeah, there is definitely uncertainty surrounding the Cavs' All-Star point guard.

Moving on from Garland would be a drastic step for Cleveland's front office to make. He did struggle in the playoffs, outside of one 32-point performance, but the talent is certainly there.

DG averaged 21.6 points, 7.8 assists, and shot a career high 49 percent from beyond the arc last season. It would be hard to find a point guard that could replicate the scoring and playmaking ability Garland has.

I think we can all agree we're at the point of the NBA season where things get wacky and reports can change within the hour. Speculation and uncertainty are one of the reasons why it can be such an exciting time of the year.
